Last night we went to Costco...we passed the dinner hour so we stopped for a quick bite. Ryan had a hot dog - and remember, he thinks ketchup is a food group.
He was wearing a white shirt and after he took a bite from the huge ketchup-covered hoagie, he proceeded to wipe his ketchupy face with his sleeve. Oh boy. Our conversation went something like this:
"Ryan, we use a napkin, not our sleeve buddy." Handing him a napkin.
Throwing the napkin on the floor he yelled, "NO! Napkins are yucky!"
The woman and her son next to us snickered a little.
He then dipped his dog again, took a bite, had ketchup all over his chin and then used his sleeve to wipe it clean. AGAIN.
"Ryan! Absolutely not! We use a napkin!" As I wipe his face with a napkin.
Looking up at me, Ryan took his hot dog, dipped it in ketchup, and then "painted" his whole lips and chin with ketchup. His face was covered.
I snatched up his hot dog and said more loudly than I meant to "Your hot dog is in time out!"
Chuckles from the table next to us...lovely.
We did end up making it out of there with one toddler, one semi-clean shirt, one full tummy and one slightly embarrassed mama.
Ahh...the adventures continue!
