A-da-da

Many mornings Ryan wakes around 5 a.m. and I bring him in bed with us for a morning feeding and about two more hours of sleep/snuggle time with Mama. When he awakens around 6 or 7, he can always count on seeing me, and if it's before 6 a.m. he gets to see his Dada as well. He frequently looks to Rob's side of the bed in hopes that his daddy's face will be smiling back at him. Weekends are the best when we are all snuggled together with Ryan between us. He loves looking from mom - to dad - back to mom - and then dad.

This morning, Ryan woke up and as I held him trying to look him in the eye to say good morning, he kept looking past me. Craning his neck to look around me and then said,

"A-da"

"A-da-da"

"Da"

"Da"

Now, Rob has been sure that when Ryan says "Da-da" that he knows what he is saying. I have been going along with that wondering that too. And in fact, after this morning, I'm convinced that he was looking for his A-da-da and in fact, "calling" for him. Does it get any sweeter than that?

Hello, Toes

Trying some banana (it's in the mesh feeder)

Hmmm....mmmmm!

Yummy!

Sitting up - even if it is only for a few seconds!

Well helloooo, toes!

Banana = success!

Guess who tried banana today and loved it!! We put a small piece in one of those neat mesh baby feeders (photos will come soon). Ryan has been watching us eat and I read in Super Baby Food by Ruth Yaron that banana is a good first food that you can give babies as early as four months. It was fun to have him join us at dinner with a snack of his own!

4.5 months

What's the latest with Ryan? I'm glad you asked!

He is...
• "talking" up a storm and is saying Mama and working on Dada
• actually jumping in his johnny jump up rather than just being pleased that he is standing on his "own"
• watching us eat - we are looking forward to the six-month mark when we get to try out some food
• His dad says he has been working with Ryan on his golf swing and it's looking better
• We're still working on rolling over, sitting up, and the "army crawl" - he is getting his buns up in the air when he's on his tummy and wants to be on the move

Here are some photos from this week:

Tuesday: helping daddy on the computer

Wednesday: a mid-week nap with Mama

Thursday: watching the birds out our kitchen window with Grandpa
